The academy has had a great impact on my career here at North County High School . It has been an awesome experience and also a very helpful experience. It has helped me as well as the other academy students to grow in great ways.

When I started off my high school career, I was an absolutely horrible student. I was nasty, I had a bad attitude, and I didn't care in the least about grades. I even actually failed a grade. It wasn't until I got introduced to the academy my sophomore year that things started to change. I was really interested in the academy and it made (me) want to change my attitude and grades so I could get in. When I did get in that's when I started to grow. Throughout the academy it has taught us to better people in the classroom and outside. The academy has given us experiences throughout high school (that) we normally wouldn't have. Things such as meeting great people in the business world, getting to experience things first hand, and actually start moving towards our career goals already. We have the opportunity to actually start learning things that we are interested in pursuing a career in and take classes that may help us obtain credit for those college degrees. And of course, now I am a well respected member of North County instead of the annoying child who never attended school.

Above all, the academy has made me a better person overall. It made my high school year's fun and also helped better prepare me for the future then I feel any of my other classes did. (AD, 2004)

The academy of Hospitality/Travel & Tourism has really benefited me throughout my years in High School, actually it has been a major help.

First of all, I learned a lot through Travel & Tourism and, encountered many good experiences. My 10th grade year I messed up real bad, basically I failed, and became a tweener, and at the end of my 10th grade year I signed up for Travel and Tourism, but the real reason I signed up is because of the field trips. I really had to work hard and, struggle to get back in the right grade, I needed all the credits I could get……… I really benefited a lot from it & I learned its' not just about field trips. I conclusion, I depend on travel and tourism and, if I do graduate this year, all the thanks would go to the Academy of Hospitality/Travel and Tourism. (TS, 2004)

The Academy of Hospitality/Travel and Tourism has helped me in numerous ways throughout my high school career. The people, the places, and the activities of the program have given me focus and purpose for my future. I have learned from every aspect of the program. ………..The people I began to interact with and develop friendships with, were people that without this program I would never spoken, too. I enjoyed seeing my new friends all the time and we came together like a small family. ……….These people helped me not only to seek employment, but they helped me find myself. The Academy of Hospitality/Travel and Tourism has been a major benefit to me throughout my high school career. It has opened up a whole new realm of employment and opportunity to me. Being in the academy has greatly affected me as a student. I am now more responsible with things such as my school work and making sure that when I have things to turn in that I turn it in on time. The academy gave me a different look on high school by showing me that the grades you get in your classes really affect you and the academy showed me that you should get involved with sports and other after school programs because they hand help you very much… .(AC, 2004)

Being in the Academy affected me as a student by giving me a different outlook at high school as well as college. Before I didn't really care much about school accept for the social aspect of it. Now I care more than ever about learning. Being in the Travel and Tourism Academy it is expected of me to be professional, without that I never would have changed my outlook on school……The academy can take me far with jobs and colleges.
